More than 400 groups and individuals have taken up the invitation to have their say on Palmerston North City Council’s proposed plans and budgets for the next 10 years, Palmy 2021-31. The timetable for hearing and considering submissions was a tight one after Audit NZ found the budget would not work beyond three years, requiring some re-writing of the consultation document. The committee of council will deliberate on the submissions on June 9, and make a recommendation of approval of the final plan, strategies, policies and plans on June 23. Following Audit NZ sign-off, the final 10-Year Plan should be adopted on July 7.
