The question now is how damaging will this be to Hun Sen and his government's reputation? The report by London-based campaign group Global Witness on the alleged wealth of Cambodia's ruling Hun Sen clan was a bombshell many media outlets around the world knew was coming. Not only were the Hun Sen clan's alleged local interests named but also links to large multinationals which ranged from Apple, Nokia, Visa, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Nestlé, Durex and Honda. A Cambodian news outlet aligned with Hun Sen's Cambodia's People Party published an anonymous letter saying foreign-owned newspapers were "propaganda machines" disrupting stability. Eldest daughter Hun Mana, 35, said by Global Witness to have interests in 22 companies with listed share capital of at least $66.7 million, sarcastically thanked Global Witness for its "destructive efforts".
