Humza Yousaf is in trouble again over him missing a gay marriage vote as minister as a lack of minutes or briefings sows doubts on his reasons for doing so. This was the summit which caused the then-external affairs minister to no-show the final vote to legalise gay marriage in Scotland. But the correspondence released shows no record of the meeting Mr Yousaf attended at the Consulate of Pakistan in Glasgow on the same day as the vote. Former health secretary Alex Neil claimed that he had told him that he wanted to avoid the equal marriage vote as he was "under pressure from the mosque." Mr Yousaf created a diary clash 19 days in advance of the vote by arranging to meet the consul general with Mr Neil claiming it was arranged as "cover" for his absence.
