Humza Yousaf claims standing by disgraced Michael Matheson showed 'strength' as demands made for him to apologise

Humza Yousaf has claimed that standing by disgraced Michael Matheson for so long was a "sign of strength" as calls were made for him to apologise for his stance. The former SNP minister fell on his own sword on Thursday as he resigned from the role, citing that he didn't want to be a "distraction" from government business. The Scottish Tories also demanded that he apologise for the scandal and admit that he was wrong to not sack his disgraced friend. Chairman Craig Hoy told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland: "We need to see that report in order to find out the timeline of events - and what Michael Matheson knew and when. "Michael Matheson didn't so that, all the way through he has tried to cover his tracks We don't want a minister who is disgraced and distracted, that's why Humza Yousaf should have sacked Michael Matheson well before now."
