SATURDAY PUZZLE — I’m a lefty, which means less and less as life modernizes around me, but I still do every weekend grid on paper, in ink, and I call a puzzle like this a lefty special. I had about 90 percent of the right half of this grid totally finished before I wrote a single letter on the left — nothing to smudge. That’s certainly not to say that the right side of this grid was easy for me, but it was a bit less steep a scramble, I guess. I could not think of the female astronaut or Britain’s Seven Years War ally (back to history class for me, I guess). I’ve used it as a term of endearment — if any of my BUBs are reading this, I’m so sorry!
