The Humboldt Broncos had just finished the first regular season tilt of their new, uncertain path forward, little more than five months after a bus crash devastated the team and their city. At the time, I was a sports reporter and photographer for a local newspaper in central-north Saskatchewan, the Prince Albert Daily Herald. And it reminded me of the youngest Broncos victim from that crash, Adam Herold. A paradise of a city, Prince Albert sits about an hour and 45 minutes north of Humboldt. When I returned to the image, days after the Broncos’ horrific bus crash, I had those same tears in my eyes.
