The Cameron County Sheriffs Department usually auctions seized property, butSheriff Conrado Cantu agreed that the Humane Society is the best organizationto oversee the public sale of the dogs. Shannon Harville, manager of the Humane Society of Harlingen, said thesituation has improved, but said she will remain skeptical until auctionprocedures can be ironed out. Officials from the humane society and thesheriffs department are expected to meet soon to work out the details. Humane society officials said this would help deterbids from people who want the do4gs solely for breeding purposes.
