NAPTIP claimed on Monday that some human trafficking syndicates were planning to cash in on the World Cup to traffic Nigerians to the Eurasian nation. NAPTIP Director-General Julie Okah-Donli told reporters in Abuja the agency had alerted the sports ministry and the NFF to the development. She said, “It has come to the knowledge of the agency that some dishonest persons and networks of human traffickers have concluded plans to use the World Cup to recruit and traffic Nigerian youths out of the country. And the Federal Government has directed the NFF through sports minister Solomon Dalung to submit the names of delegates to NAPTIP and the NIS for vetting. Dalung advised the NFF to ensure that only genuine World Cup spectators and supporters are presented for clearance to travel out of the country.
