Human bones find stops work

An area where human remains were found during the removal of a pine tree at Cromwell cemetery is fenced off. Clearing work being done in a section of the Cromwell cemetery has been permanently shelved following the discovery of historic human remains in the area. Ground penetrating work had not, and would not, be done in that area, however no more tree clearing work would be continued because of the discovery, Mr Begg said. The human remains were being held by an archaeologist and would be reinterred at the cemetery, Mr Begg said. Anyone with information can contact Mr Begg on 03-4400654.pam.jones@odt.co.nz
