Huge flying ant swarms picked up by weather radar

Swarms of flying ants over England were so big they showed up on weather radar systems looking like rain, reports say. "Flying ants!!!" BBC weather presenter Simon King tweeted when the insects were detected and shown on the UK Met Office's interactive weather map between 8am - 11am (local time) on Wednesday. "Swarms of them flying into the sky in S Eng are being picked up as rain on the radar image this morning...!" In early June a massive blob showing up on the US National Weather Service's radar in San Diego County was found to be a swarm of ladybugs.
