by Ray Schultz , YesterdayThe staff reduction at HuffPost has led to one more editorial departure: Danielle Belton, editor in chief, has resigned, saying “I could not, in good faith, ask others to make this difficult decision without doing the same,” according to The Wrap. Belton announced her intent to leave only days after informing staff that upwards of 30 editorial positions, roughly 22% of HuffPost’s headcount, would be cut. “I recognize that this is an upsetting way to start the year,” Belton acknowledged at the time. She added, “We are beginning talks with the HuffPost Union about how to proceed, including the possibility of offering voluntary buyout packages to some desks in the newsroom.”advertisement advertisementBelton's decision to leave “was hard in the sense that I do feel so strongly about you all — both for those who will be departing the company and for those who will remain — and have been so proud to lead this newsroom,’” she said,reports. “I did not want us to get to this place where we would face saying goodbye, yet despite my best efforts, this is where we find ourselves.
