ADVERTISEMENTThe second Jagannath temple in the township was inaugurated beside the Administrative Training Institute, diagonally opposite the Kali temple, by Bhabani Prasad Daitapati, the chief priest of the Jagannath temple in Puri. Salt Lake already has another Jagannath temple in CJ Park, which was inaugurated in 2025 on Akshay Tritiya by mayor Krishna Chakraborty. He referred to the recently inaugurated Jagannath temple in Digha and ongoing development and renovation work at temples such as Kalighat, Dakshineswar and Tarakeswar. Nrityam of DA Block showcased kathak dancers, Ta Thoi of AB Block Odissi and Saltlake Nartyalaya of GC Block Manipuri. The celebrations ended with the playing of Holi and rain dance, perhaps the most exciting part of the day.
