Hudson River Park, the 550-acre waterfront space that runs from lower Manhattan to Midtown, is introducing a green initiative that aims to curtail the use of single-use plastic items. The measure is built around a voluntary agreement between the 20-year-old park, which incorporates city and state land, and its restaurants, concession operators and other tenants. As part of the deal, the vendors can’t sell water in single-use plastic bottles or provide plastic straws.
