Smartphone shipments of Huawei Technologies this year are expected to slump by 20 percent from last year to up to 200 million smartphones amid the Covid-19 epidemic and sanctions, The Information reported, citing sources. The mainland telecom saw its shipments grow 25 percent last year to 240 million, surpassing Apple for the first time and ranked second globally. Sources also expect shipments of Apple to surpass Huawei this year despite Huawei launching its own Huawei mobile services, which will take time for overseas users to accept. In other news, Q Technology (1478) announced its net profit soared 36 times to 542 million yuan (HK$606.4 million) in 2019 driven by the significant increase in the sales volume of camera module products. The basic earnings per share were 47.6 cents yuan and a final dividend of 9 fens was declared.
