Defence lawyers have confirmed that as soon as the appeal petition of Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case is accepted, bail will be sought for the BNP chief. On Tuesday, Khaleda Zia filed an appeal with the High Court against the trial court verdict in the graft case. The appeal has been documented in the court as “Criminal Appeal Number 1667/18.”The hearing on the appeal is scheduled to be held on Thursday. Advocate Sagir said: “As per regulations, the High Court will pass an order stating whether it would conduct a full hearing on Khaleda Zia’s appeal petition. Later, hearing on appeal for withdrawing the fines and conviction of Khaleda Zia will be held.”He stated that if the High Court rejects the petition to hold an initial appeal hearing, another appeal against the decision can be filed.
