This “clean generation” of teenagers don’t smoke and don’t drink. In fact, smoking and drinking among young people is at its lowest level on record. “Drugs,” says the addiction specialist Mandy Saligari, the director of the rehabilitation centre Charter Harley Street, “are a very real issue. Drugs within our teenage population are not recognised as dangerous. They’re recognised as commonplace and part of the culture.”No child, she adds, is immune.
