How to improve feedback during appraisals and assessmentsMost of us have been on one or both ends of an appraisal during our careers. However, some appraisals may not be handled in the best way. Some meetings are often crammed in a short time slot between seemingly more important work commitments. Ideally, appraisals should not simply be about taking a retrospective look at work to date and giving a “could do better” oral work report. Filling in a form ahead of an appraisal meeting can be a useful first step as long as it is read by the appraiser and detailed responses provided.
