Q: I have a 6-year-old boy who won't take no for an answer when he wants something, and continues arguing with whatever reason we give. It gets really old, and eventually I end up giving the answer "because I said so." Even though you are annoyed, all of your attention is focused on him, and that is powerful stuff for a 6-year-old. If you continue to kindly and strongly hold your boundary, his brain will adapt and stop pushing. The more you understand why your child is pushing, the more effective your strategies to stop it will be.
