Sow beetroot seeds direct into well-cultivated soil that is friable and free from stones in a site that gets full sun. Beetroot doesn't just come in red. yellow (from Kings Seeds) whereas white 'Albino' tastes like red beetroot but doesn't stain your hands! You can also grow beets for their leaves as a microgreen if you're short on space. If you're leaving your beetroot to grow to its full size for slicing or preserving, make sure you don't leave it in the ground too long as it can become woody and unappetising.
