You want to relocate to Manhattan to work in fashion? Amazing; but so do millions of other hopeful, talented people, so be prepared to buckle up and knuckle down. From PR to merchandising (which, pro tip, is what they call fashion buying in the U.S.) to editorial and design, be strategic and identify where your strengths lie. You tend to learn the most when working with resourceful, scrappy and small teams where you’re forced to wear many hats. Let’s hope she remembers that one the next time I apply for a job on her masthead.
