OPINION: Discovering the blend between attack and defence and kicking and running is the Holy Grail within the game. Rush defence is king at the moment, with a number of teams rushing and reaping good rewards. However, people who have employed the rush defence for a lengthy period of time know how much energy it takes to keep rushing. The John Mitchell-driven rush defence was lauded in England's win over Ireland, but was less effective against Wales. New Zealand teams have traditionally been brilliant at exploiting space by making use of cross-kicks and grubbers behind the defence.
