There are two things that Basketball Hall of Fame inductees have to do before they’re enshrined in Springfield, Mass. The first thing they have to do is be phenomenally good at basketball or make such an important contribution to the game that it doesn’t matter how good at basketball they were. The second thing they have to do is attend Hall of Fame orientation. That’s when the most recent class of basketball legends was briefed on the most stressful part of all the pomp and circumstance: the speech.
