But at a time when restaurant closures outnumber openings, an accomplished trio from France have introduced something special to the corner of College and Clinton. Three years in the making, Pompette (597 College St.) is a new gem from 30-something expats Martine Bauer, Jonathan Bauer and Maxime Hoerth. Strasbourg-born Jonathan was named France’s best sommelier in 2014 while at acclaimed chef Daniel Rose’s (now shuttered) Spring in Paris.
