As if it were a story plucked straight out of a romance novel, the spouses of two acclaimed authors — who both wrote about autobiographically about the final years of their lives — have found love together. Paul Kalanithi, whose memoir When Breath Becomes Air detailed his battle with lung cancer, died in March 2015 at the age of 37. His book was published posthumously by Random House in January the following year, remaining on The New York Times bestseller list for several weeks. Her book was similarly published posthumously, also becoming a bestseller. Then, while embarking on a joint publicity tour for their late spouses’ books, their feelings for each other grew beyond mere correspondence.
