How the ban on electronics in US/UK bound flights serves two purposes: annoy travelers and reduce airline competitionThe North Africa Journal – March 21, 2017: The US imposed a ban on most electronics on flights from Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE. In the United States, the decision does not appear to be tied to any immediate or tangible threat. Firstly, the most recent attempts on aircraft flying to the United States were perpetrated by travelers originating from Europe. In 2006 a terrorist plot to detonate liquid explosives was carried on board airliners traveling from the United Kingdom to the United States and Canada, disguised as soft drinks. Algeria is not part of the UK ban either, and so one wonders how are the countries selected.
