We are ever-nearer to making history with our car buying. It is just a matter of how much longer it will take for sales of combined totals of “pure” electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and conventional hybrids to overtake those of diesel and petrol. The “electrified” cars now have a combined market share, according to the latest SIMI statistics, of 44.63pc and are steadily catching up. It is only when you stop and look at the figures that you get a sense of how quickly things are changing. Will “electrified” top the 50pc mark by July?
