How do 43 students just vanish into thin air? A look at the 'Ayotzinapa' case that has long haunted Mexico

A Mexican federal court ruled Monday that a truth commission must reinvestigate the disappearance of 43 students from a rural teacher training college in 2014. The commission would be made up of victims’ representatives, the National Human Rights Commission and federal prosecutors. Who were the 43 students of Ayotzinapa and why did they disappear? As well as local officials, Mexican federal police were reported to have been watching the students’ movements in anticipation of the hijackings.
