But other LGBTQ students and alumni did speak about what they call conversion therapy, which Liberty considers pastoral counseling. As of 1 July, Virginia became the 20th state to ban conversion therapy for anyone younger than 18. All Liberty students on campus are required to attend a mandatory thrice-weekly chapel service called convocation, or “convo”.
