Sudanese men play music as protesters gather in the streets of Khartoum on Saturday. The sky is dark, and throngs of civilians are circled around a Sudanese soldier, dressed in military uniform, as he blares his heart out on a saxophone. “For a soldier to play music in the midst of a protest signaled that change was in the air.”Bashir’s swift departure has led to power struggles within his inner circle. Footage on social media has shown Sudanese protesters playing violins, the melodica and drums, as protesters chant and sing around them. And the Sudanese military has for the most part resisted cracking down on the movement.
