How a drunken college snow day turned into a ‘riot’ that police broke up with smoke grenades

After classes at West Virginia University were canceled because of snow, students spent the day Friday drinking and playing winter games. Hundreds gathered along Spruce Street as some biked, sledded, snowboarded and kayaked on the downhill road just off campus in Morgantown. Morgantown police were called to Spruce Street just before 3 p.m. Another view of police dispersing the crowds on Spruce Street.
