The author seemingly strives to replace the trope of the dead girl with the difficult woman who fights back. Each of these stories tells the tale of a woman abused, who eventually seeks revenge for the dark turn her life has taken. Much like Flynn seems to have propelled the evolution of the difficult woman in literature, Noxon has, too, in television.
