While the Biden campaign has not conducted formal research on how an impeachment trial would impact the primary, advisers to senators running for president have begun formulating contingency plans. The 1999 impeachment trial of Bill Clinton ran five weeks from January through February, when the Senate voted to acquit the president on two counts.
