After the the BJP launched its North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and vowed to “free” the region from the Congress, Tuki set on a secret plan to woo back the rebels. “The Supreme Court judgment gave them a leeway to return to the party fold. I called him my younger brother, said I had nothing personal against him, and said returning the party fold was the best option left,” Tuki claimed. “The verdict reverted our position to being Congress MLAs. After the Supreme Court ordered maintaining status quo ante as on December 15, 2015, Tuki told them that returning to party fold was the best option left.
