(CNN) The Democratic wins in the Georgia Senate runoffs this week ensured President Donald Trump's place in electoral history. The Trump-led Republican Party suffered historic losses on the federal level in a short four-year span that has rarely, if ever, been duplicated in modern American history. Let's start with the basic fact that the Republican Party will no longer control the White House, Senate or House of Representatives when President-elect Joe Biden takes his oath of office. This is a sharp reversal from when Trump entered the White House in 2017. Indeed, there's really only one other historic parallel since senators were popularly elected: Herbert Hoover nearly 90 years ago.
