When news of this first broke last May, it sounded like a death sentence for Huawei phones outside of China. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many others still run fine on recent Huawei phones. Google apps that are not part of GMS core, such as Google Maps and Google Chrome, still work perfectly fine on Huawei devices. As mentioned, Google Maps, Google Chrome and Google Keyboard all still fall outside of GMS, so they work fine. But if it doesn’t happen, if Huawei phones must solely operate without GMS, the blow dealt to Huawei phones wasn’t as severe as I thought.
