She formed a micro-investment firm, Next Wave Ventures, in which 90 new or relatively new women angel investors who are mentored by nine experienced women angel investors. Some lessons from the pilot fund:The pilots, Rising Tide U.S. Fund raised $1 million in the U.S. and Rising Tide Europe Fund raised €1 million in Europe, were not economically sustainable. The next fund, to be raised in 2019, will be seeking investments ranging from $30,000 to $300,000 from each women angel investors. Entrepreneurs benefited not only from the capital provided but also from the expertise of the limited partners (the angel investors) in the fund. It is too soon to say if the learn-by-doing model will engage more women as long-term angel investors.
