Because receiving critical feedback makes even extremely secure employees freak out a little bit, it has to be executed carefully to be effective. DON’T TALK LIKE THIS!!! When you have to send feedback over e-mail, write a first draft and then strip out all inflammatory and hyperbolic language in addition to all adjectives; see if the message still reads. Talk about initiative, talk about progress, talk about a good idea someone had or how people love working with him. It can be worse if the person or thing is terrible, but giving feedback is hard anytime and always.
