Dec. 26 marks one of the best shopping days all year – the day after Christmas sale. Back in 2013, the day after Christmas promised to bring big blowouts as the recession lingered and consumers dialed down the holiday spending. Holiday sales this year are expected to rise some 3.6%, according to the latest U.S. Retail Holiday Shopping Mid-Season Update from Mastercard SpendingPulse. The notion of outlining which retailers have the best deals seems almost quaint, but insider knowledge into what is the most competitive category can be more helpful, as increased competition here brings deals, advertised and not. Apparel remains one of the most pressured consumer product categories and the discounts here are often the best all year.
