Photo by David SeidemanI recently broke a 30-year cycle of impulse buying at baseball shows. “It’s not what you make in life, it’s what you spend,” says stock broker Steve Schwab, a kindergarten friend of mine. Small card collections can fit in drawers and trunks, Baseball bats, football helmets, and most other sports memorabilia seldom do. Think of a baseball card show as a museum where you can touch the stuff. The most I’ve ever spent on a baseball collectible is $2600 for a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle card and a rare early 1900s Spalding “tornado palm” glove.
