GettyThe Alliance of American Football (AAF) suspended operations on Tuesday, a seemingly unexpected turn of events for the fledgling spring professional football league that was two weeks from the end of its inaugural season. While Dundon called for suspending operations, sources indicated that AAF CEO Charlie Ebersol and Head of Football Bill Polian were in disagreement with the move. It’s still unclear exactly why Dundon suddenly pulled the plug but more than one described him as a “rogue as a chairman” from early on in his tenure. And while no one knows for certain whether the AAF has been permanently shuttered, it’s quite possible that it picks up where it left off. Already the XFL has already begun the process of trying to pick off AAF staff meaning the faces may be changing.
