How Obamacare made the GOP embrace ‘government health care’

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) made a comment Tuesday morning about health care coverage that he seemed to quickly regret. "And so maybe rather than getting that new iPhone that they just love and they want to go spend hundreds of dollars on that, maybe they should invest in their own health care." Now that people have become accustomed to government-subsidized health care, of course, the idea that they'll suddenly have to make hard decisions between that and a new iPhone isn't so attractive. If people didn't get covered, that was on them, and they wouldn't benefit from the greatest health care system in the world. Democrats' greatest trick in all of this has been to make the party that denounced Obamacare for being "government-run health care" into the party that is now seeking its own acceptable role for government in health care -- and making them kinda, sorta embrace health care coverage as a right.
