Wal-Mart’s Comeback In The Online SpaceWal-Mart’s e-commerce growth slowed down during the 2014-2015 period, as the company focused more on its in-store performance. Globally, on a constant currency basis, the company’s e-commerce sales and GMV increased 50% and 54% (including acquisitions), respectively, in the recent third quarter. In addition, online grocery offers a great potential in the long run, as the U.S. grocery sales represented only about 12% of the total online sales in 2016. By 2020, we expect Wal-Mart’s e-commerce sales to contribute about 4% in the company’s total sales. The total U.S. e-commerce sales are expected to reach $523 billion by 2020 from $395 billion in 2016.
