Manchester United were stuck in a rut when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was drafted in to replace Mourinho in December, days after a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. And, in the two months since Mourinho was shown the door, everyday life at Old Trafford has taken a turn for the better. Solskjaer is everything Mourinho was not: a manager ready to put an arm round the shoulder, will not hold grudges and is determined to bring smiles to the faces of supporters.
