VANCOUVER—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he’s disappointed by his progress in ensuring women are paid as much as men for the same work. Trudeau was speaking in Vancouver on Tuesday at the Women Deliver conference, dubbed the “Olympics” of feminism by one of his cabinet ministers. According to a report from Statistics Canada using data from 2017 on average hourly wages, women only earn $0.87 for every dollar that men earn. Trudeau came to power describing himself as a feminist and unveiled Canada’s first gender-balanced cabinet. But he’s also been criticized for his office’s treatment of former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould and faced a nearly two-decade-old groping allegation since taking office.
