For the last few weeks, we have all had front row seats to this experience through watching the impeachment hearings. One key witness was Fiona Hill, a former National Security Council official, international relations authority and career diplomat. Watching her deliver testimony, I was struck by how she (and other public servants) delivered testimony in a real-time master class on executive presence. If we pull back from the events and look at the hearing from a learning perspective, three key tactics stood out to me from Hill’s testimony. We have seen the exact opposite of this behavior in other recent public hearings.
