It's now emerged that Trump had demanded to be in the film when it was made in 1992. Back in 2017 Matt Damon explained that Trump allowed movies to be shot in buildings he owned if he was given a cameo role. Trump appears briefly in a scene shot in the hotel lobby and gives Kevin directions. That same year Trump filmed a cameo in Scent of a Woman, which was shot in the same hotel. In a separate tweet, he also appeared to jokingly suggest his cameo was cut by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
