WHITEHORSE Canada’s top freestyle snowboarders filter into a mountain lodge just outside Whitehorse during a particularly arctic spell of weather. That sensor has become standard fare for Canada’s slopestyle snowboard team. Canada’s snowboarders have had considerable success in the relatively new Olympic events of slopestyle and big air. The type of sport analysis and innovation that’s on display in Whitehorse is part of Canada Snowboard’s hunt for an edge. The sensor data breaks down each athlete’s training session, including how many jumps and, most importantly, a G-force measurement of how hard they were on the body.
