The day before Nuit Blanche, I caught up with Lum by phone as the scaffolding for his exhibit was being erected. “Nuit Blanche has all kinds of constraints that, for an artist such as myself, you would never contemplate until you actually agree to do Nuit Blanche. “Dumplings are something which I think everyone knows about — they are like a lingua franca for a food item. When asked if he considers dumplings to still be considered an “ethnic food”, Lum thinks for a minute.
