Houston Mayor: 'People Will Have To Make The Adjustments'

"You are going to be in a stressful situation, I understand that," said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner at a press conference Monday morning. The city has so far received more than 65,000 calls to 911; first responders have rescued thousands from flooded homes. The dam releases will add to the massively flooded Buffalo Bayou, which snakes through downtown before emptying out into the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay. Highways through downtown Houston, the 4th biggest city in America, are completely submerged and impassable due to record levels on the Buffalo Bayou. On Friday Mayor Turner tweeted out: “Please think twice before trying to leave Houston en masse.” He expressed no second thoughts today.
