Housing, wetland suggested for city areas

Dunedin resident Daniel Benson-Guiu says Forbury Park in Dunedin could be used for council housing and to restore a wetland environment. Mr Benson-Guiu said more community housing was needed in the city and he supported a mix of council housing. The Forbury Park racecourse and Chisholm Links golf course might also present opportunities to restore wetlands and coastal environments, he said. Mr Benson-Guiu, presenting a submission to the Dunedin City Council’s 10-year plan hearing yesterday, said wetlands were an important defence against rising sea levels and more frequent storms caused by climate change. The Forbury Park Trotting Club plans to move from the St Kilda racecourse.
